Old School

Before the modern day pull tab, there existed...the pop-top. For those of us old enough to remember, the old pop-tops were pulled completely off of the top of the can. This design was finally abandoned because the discarded pop-tops littered streets and beaches all over the world.

But for those who remember, the old pop tops were good for making some very groovy stuff: pop top hats, pop top vests, pop top dresses, even clothes for Fido.

This photo retrospective is an homage to our funky forefathers and mothers.

The book is out of print but if you must have it, copies can still be found on Amazon.  Our friend, Brenda Parkin was the one who told us about this book. She bought it at a garage sale 20 years ago and she's been carrying it around ever since.

Fun fact: The pop-top and the pull-tab were invented by...the same man! To learn more about this genius, Ermal Frase, click here ».
